The Karachi Port handled 174,808 tonnes of cargo comprising 107,720 tonnes of import cargo and 67,088 tonnes of export cargo including 10,215 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargos of 107,720 tonnes comprised of 59,253 tonnes of containerised cargo; 310 tonnes of bulk cargo; 1,840 tonnes of canola; 3,467 tonnes of soyabean seeds and 42,850 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 67,088 tonnes comprised of 52,016 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,600 tonnes of clinkers; 3,322 tonnes of rice and 3,150 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 10,215 containers comprising of 4,190 containers import and 6,025 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,423 of 20's and 1,194 of 40's loaded while 09 of 20's and 185 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,417 of 20's and 749 40's loaded containers while 1,008 20's and 1,051 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were seven ships namely Cosco Antwerp, Maersk Salina, OOCL California, APL LE Havre, Chem New York, Filia and Iguazu Highway carrying containers, oil tanker, clinker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. MOL Grandeur, Europe, Stream Arctic, Palomar, MT Lahore and Bashundhara-8 carrying containers, oil tankers and clinker respectively currently at the berths.
